Pipped to the post by the Deristricted blog but anyway, here's my mate Coopers Montessa. It's super clean int' flesh. Coops is a legend for bike riding round these parts - one of those people who was born with style. Rides his BMX like his moto x. Lad's not feared at all. He and his dad are mega skilled mechanics with the best living room / garage conversion ever. Photos of that soon. Anyway - bike check ahoy...

"I’ve recently finished a nice restoration project of an ’82 Montesa trials bike. It took me 5 weeks to complete. I bought the bike from an auto jumble pretty cheap as a non-runner.
After a fair bit of research I found everything I could about the bike. I tracked down a brand new original piston in Arizona USA, Re-bored the cylinder and fitted new seals. Painted the engine, fixed the kickstart mechanism. Made several new bushes for the swingarm, rear brake pedal, footrest etc. Bead blasted the fork bottoms and rebuilt with fresh seals etc. New rear twin shocks came from Shocktech Suspension. Had all the nuts, bolts washers footrests and spindles re-plated. Polished all the aluminium parts including carburettor, fixed the sticking choke lever.
The frame, forks, swingarm, side stand, petrol tank, sump guard and wheel hubs were painted back to original factory colours!
Fortunately a supplier in the south of England specialises in trials bikes of that era so after £700 quid it started to look like it did when it rolled off the showroom floor in 1982 and it now runs sweet!!

Had a very nice cuppa with Lawson & David from Powerhouse Automotive in Sheffield this afternoon. They were kind enough to explain to a clueless noob (Richard, not Max) how an engine works and how to make it better. As they said, I'm not going to turn the 250 into a 400 but a bit more 'go' will be always be welcome. Dynos, porting, boreing, inlets, outlets, skimming, mixtures, needles, mid range, top end... just about clung onto the conversation but my brain is spinning a bit. They deffo know the deal so if you're in the North and want your motor to be better give them a call.

They were also keen to stress that they're in the middle of a re-location and usually the place looks like a doctors surgery rather than a clean version of my shed.

Davids project scooter. Gonna need the pedals to help round these parts. 7 hills. Just like Rome, but better.

Brake overhauls too... They're well known for that.

Yeah, that'll be a nitrous bottle on the side...

Of late, the humble Honda has muscled it's way into my thoughts. My bikes from time

How time flies! Hard to believe the Yamaha FS1E pictures are almost 20 years ago! I had loads of other bikes but there are no photos.
The mz TS 125. This was the two stroke bike we rode on the fields. I put a knobbly tyre on the rear, the tank was painted by father, nice job! This bike was totally unsuitable for the fields. The footrest shaft was a solid rod and also acted as the rear brake lever pivot. Every time I rode the bike it would be dropped and the footrest snapped off taking the rear brake with it. Had to be welded back on. The front forks would bottom out all the time delivering a nasty jolt to the arms. I dont know where it is now. This was late 80's or or something.

I had this Kawasaki AE50 which was a trials version of the AR50. Yea hard to believe almost 20 years ago! nuts.

Yamaha FS1E, I had loads of these things. I had like 6 frames in the shed. I wish I still had it all now. I swapped the lot for 1 working bike in the end. I made up the fs1e out of various parts. I had the disk on the front. I had the head skimmed and sent the barrel off to be polished in the ports. Also had the micron exhaust and also the all speed exhaust sometimes. In the end I found a sort of vintage racing expansion chamber with no silencer and some Italian writing on it. I think this bike did the 58 ish mph downhill with a back wind if I remember. That could be down to inaccurate speedometer reading.
I whonder where this is now. The reg was jgv 385n on one of them.

The hair is a distant memory!

The Rollerburn part 1

Yea the event was really good. The grand finale was exhilerating and hilarious, one memorable aspect was comedian Charlie Chuck blazing down the strip in the roller drag race. It was so mad seeing some of the bikes and all of the people, meeting loads of new faces and having fun galore. Computers knackered so heres a couple of images for now, so many cameras there there's much more photos here for example.
Thanks to El Solitario mc for some of the photos and also this shed brewed one. Theres so many pictures I'll put more on here if the computer survives.

You may have seen this Video before somewhere (I might have put it on here cant remember!). I like it for the bike that the sensible race guy has. It is a B series BSA. Good sound as He bump starts that thing. It's a BSA "Special" ( that's what they called/call modified bikes, Now its changed to "custom" or the type of custom (cafe, bobber, chopper etc) And this film's from 59 apparently. Early cafe racer stylee!

Yea this is a demonstration of excellent "drifting" abilities on a bike. Good control and skills etc, wow nice one. If only I could do this! If I could I might go to a social engagement and a female might say, "So what do You do?" I'd be like "Yea drifting, You know, on like, motorbikes, Bikes Yea? And then I could watch her glaze over and make her excuses. But hey, at least I'd be a drifting God.

Yea going to have a CFH stall at this shindig. I have nothing to sell there except tshirts so Yo I did some more designs. If all goes to plan and nothing goes seriously wrong then These 2 images here and another drag bike one will be printed on the tshirts and can be purchased if anyone wants one. Swing by the stall at rollerburn and check it out. I made a backdrop. Seems huge in my room but I know its going to look like a postage stamp at the event. Here's the event details
It's all on shedule for the tshirts, although I screen print them all myself in my room so anything can go wrong!. Bringin the BSA too.

A couple of videos to digest, You may or may not have seen. A guy surfing quite recklessly and shooting a gun around (as ya do!) And a whole mess of dudes wheelie'ing like its going out of fasion. The wheelie gang is in Pakistan, Not sure about the gun nutter.

It's interesting to look at these videos, maybe it's sort of like looking at bike culture once the western historical influences have been mostly removed. Take away the cafe racer/leathers and chequered patterns, Take away the Harley macho hog baggers and the easy rider bro chops, what are You left with? Surfing in flimsy cloth whilst shooting a gun around and 2 up wheelies on small Chinese/Japanese bikes whilst riding in swarm formation. Looks like that guy with the gun doesent give a toss if He falls off and gets mangled. Anyway yea dont do any of that stuff.

Guilty pleasure! What do You do if You can't afford to cobble together a bike that's been festering in the back of the garage for years? Just pretend it's done. This one is Bens Yamaha XT 500 chopper (like SR). At first I was like wtf is this thing, but then I was like sod it this thing is a wierd crush! Sit on it a couple of times and Youre texting it everyday and stalking it on facebook. Anyway I like it and would like to see it on the road. For the time being it remains a loosley assembled pile of bits in it's owners hoard. Just in case just thought I'd shove this Suzuki RE5 video on here. One of the more successful Wankel engined barges. If You never heard of a Wankel engines then smash Your eyes into this wiki entry and then watch this funky oldscule video. I dont know why it failed to take off but It could be down to its totally clumpy blob like appearance. I'd say shove it in modern cars.

Yea it has been slow round here of late, not many posts. Been busy in reality land. I have gone about on that tumblr web thing. I found all this stuff on this memoirs of a ton up tumblr (and one image from wheels and heels ) Some of these are golden oldies that You may have seen already on other sites, but they're still goodys.

I got this new Haifley Brothers seat and p-pad from Lowbrow Customs. I can ditch the home made one, which is fine, but it's upholstered with gaffa tape and an old handbag. I hope this Haifley one looks good on the bike, the bracket and position will be different.
